Kick'n Knit

Forgive me Sensei…

… for I have been lazy.

I have not been to train in over two weeks.  Now, granted, in that two weeks my dog passed away.  And work has been crazy.. but for some reason I can’t seem to make working out and training a priority.

I think it comes down to not wanting to take care of myself.  I’m lazy that way.  It’s easier to just be fat and soft and sluggish..   I seem to forget all about that thrill of getting on the scale and seeing the numbers going down.. what I means to go up a flight of stairs and not be winded.   That excitement of seeing muscle tone!

For some reason I just get lazy and want to sit on my butt and do nothing.. this has been an ongoing problem.. I’m good for about a month and then I get the “meh I don’t wanna” so I don’t.

I think part of the problem is that I’m only training twice a week.  So I have 5 days in between training sessions.

I’m going to call the YMCA and see about their Ready Fit program.  You get 4 free lessons from the personal trainer to show you how to use the equipment.   You get a little chart and an assessment and then you track your progress.

That way, Shel and I can go on Sunday’s and work out together. Right now she’s going on Tuesday and Thursday nights while I’m in the dojo.  Maybe we’ll start inspriring each other instead of sabotaging each other.

What do you do to motivate yourself to get to the gym to work out?  I need some help people!

Sensei Kicked Me

Omg.. it was so funny!

We were practicing Front Kick to Chest and we were supposed to target the knot of the belt of the person we were practicing with.

I did ok.. I was so careful to try and extend my foot that I was going too slow and not really snapping my leg out there.

My partner did better, but she didn’t extend her toes out so she kept missing.

Sensei demonstrated on me.  Tap .. tap.. tap.. the ball of his foot tapping my belt.  Fine, no problem..

Then he says “And then if you want to extend”.

BAM!  He kicked me!   Not hard.. but hard enough to knock me back a foot.

I grunted like a pig and then cracked up..

(but I can see where he could really really hurt a person)
